Agung began his career as a Marine Engineer, but his story is far from ordinary — it’s a testament to ambition, adaptability and transformative power of opportunity. In 1998, he entered PT Pan United Shipyard Indonesia as an Assistant Project Manager. Within a year, his aptitude earned him the role of Fleet Control Manager and New Building Executives at PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk until 2008. As soon as he discovered his job required management skills and felt that an engineer also needs some additional capability like Management, Finance, and Business Administration, he enrolled in the Master’s programme in Business Administration at BINUS University in 2004, embracing a formal education as a vital step on his leadership and management journey. For him, it is essential to have a combination of technical skills and managerial skills. He then joined PT Bayu Buana Gemilang until 2009 as a Senior Expert Marine Energy Transport. Starting from 2009, he embarked on his journey in management — becoming the Commercial and Business Development Senior Manager at PT Rig Tenders Indonesia Tbk, running and leading company's commercial day to day activities, also developing new business for the company. In 2011, he moved to PT Trans LNG as a Vice President for Marine Facilities and to PT Samudera Shipping Line Ltd as a Senior Vice President Business Development in 2012. His leadership skill didn't go unnoticed. In 2012, he was entrusted to be a Director for PT Samudera Energi Tangguh. Back at PT Samudera Shipping Line Ltd, he was entrusted to be a Director in 2013. His unwavering dedication and strong expertise in Logistics and Shipping earned him a President Director position at PT CUMAWIS—PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk subsidiary in 2018. In 2022, driven by a deep sense of duty to the nation, he answered the call to lead. Stepping into the role of CEO at PT Djakarta Lloyd, Indonesia’s state-owned enterprise specializing in shipping and logistics, he brought with him a bold vision and a steadfast commitment to revitalising one of the nation's most strategic assets

Stepping into a struggling state-owned enterprise was no small feat but he embraced the challenge head-on. Since taking the helm of PT Djakarta Lloyd (Persero) in 2022, during a turbulent period marked by the company’s Postponement of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU), he demonstrated unwavering commitment and strategic acumen. Navigating one of the most critical junctures in the company’s history, he successfully steered it out of legal and financial distress. In the history of Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises, few have faced such a crisis as complex as this. He stands as perhaps the only state-owned CEO to have confronted such a formidable challenge. His leadership during this extraordinary moment not only tested his resilience but also set a new benchmark for crisis management and corporate turnaround in the nation’s public sector. With a bold vision for the future, he is now focussed on revitalising the organisation through comprehensive restructuring, thus turning the crisis into a catalyst for transformation

He is now exploring meaningful ways to give back to his alma mater — sharing the rich experiences he has gathered over the years to inspire and equip the next generation of changemakers
