O Group Scientific Director at Alpha IVF Group Berhad B xx.xx.xxxx BP Kuala Lumpur F Adelle is the daughter of the late David Lim Poh Wing (1953–2012) and Low Seiw Ching (born 1955). She is married to Dr. Kelvin Chang Kar Wing (born 1982). Ca Adelle Lim Yun Xin is a distinguished Malaysian reproductive science specialist and scientific leader who serves as the Group Scientific Director of Alpha IVF Group Berhad. With more than 17 years of experience spanning biotechnology and reproductive science, she has dedicated her career to advancing assisted reproductive technology through scientific research, laboratory innovation and the application of emerging technologies. Today, she oversees the operational, administrative and scientific management of Alpha IVF Group’s laboratories across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines, guiding multidisciplinary teams and strengthening the Group’s scientific capabilities. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to scientific excellence and, ultimately, to creating new possibilities for individuals and couples aspiring to build their families. Ach Adelle began her professional journey in 2007 in cord blood stem cell banking, where she developed a strong foundation in cellular biology, laboratory techniques and stem cell preservation. In 2011, she joined Alpha IVF & Women’s Specialists as an embryologist, embarking on a career that would take her from laboratory specialist to scientific leader. Her dedication and expertise led to her appointment as Chief Embryologist in 2016, where she assumed greater responsibility for embryology and genetic laboratory operations. Working closely with her teams, she helped strengthen laboratory standards, improve processes and advance embryo selection techniques in support of better IVF practices. As her career evolved, Adelle’s curiosity and passion for discovery drew her towards emerging areas of reproductive science. Her research interests encompass artificial intelligence in embryo selection, genomics, advanced sperm sorting, embryo culture, gamete and embryo vitrification and cryopreservation, regenerative medicine using platelet-rich plasma, as well as technologies for salvaging embryos derived from 0PN and 1PN. She is particularly driven by the potential of science and technology to enhance decision-making in assisted reproduction and translate breakthroughs from the laboratory into meaningful clinical applications. One of the defining milestones of Adelle’s career has been her pioneering work in Malaysia on the application of artificial intelligence in embryo selection. Through collaborative research, she was involved in achieving the first reported healthy live birth in Southeast Asia using AI-selected embryos. The research received the Reproductive Biomedicine Online Annual Robert G. Edwards Prize Paper Award in 2022, recognising the significance of the work. Beyond this achievement, Adelle has authored or co-authored more than 110 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference abstracts, contributing to the growing body of knowledge in reproductive medicine. She also serves as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, further contributing to the international scientific community. Holding a Bachelor of Science from the University of Malaya and a Master of Science in Clinical Embryology from the University of Leeds, UK, Adelle combines academic knowledge with extensive practical experience. In her current leadership role, she oversees embryologists and geneticists, maintains laboratory quality and performance, supports research and development, and contributes to laboratory expansion across the Group’s regional operations. Through strategic planning, resource management and interdisciplinary collaboration, she helps ensure that Alpha IVF’s scientific capabilities continue to evolve alongside its growing regional presence. Yet, behind the technology, research and laboratory achievements lies a purpose that remains deeply human. For Adelle, every scientific advancement represents another possibility for someone hoping to become a parent. Her career demonstrates how perseverance, curiosity and the courage to explore new frontiers can transform scientific knowledge into something deeply meaningful. As she continues to support the establishment of new laboratories, develop scientific teams and pursue innovative research, she remains committed to learning, improving and pushing the boundaries of what reproductive science can achieve. Looking ahead, Adelle hopes to contribute to a future where reproductive science becomes increasingly precise, innovative and accessible, while upholding the highest standards of care and scientific integrity. Her journey is a reminder that some of the most meaningful breakthroughs begin quietly in the laboratory, through patience, collaboration and an unwavering desire to discover what is possible. Through her continued pursuit of excellence, Adelle is helping transform scientific possibilities into new beginnings, guided by a simple yet powerful belief: the greatest impact of innovation is ultimately measured by the hope and possibilities it brings to people’s lives. CaSA Beyond her scientific and leadership responsibilities, Adelle is actively involved in advancing knowledge and contributing to the wider reproductive science community. She is regularly invited to deliver presentations and share her expertise at international conferences, providing insights into emerging developments and innovations in assisted reproductive technology. She also serves as a lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), where she delivers lectures each semester, sharing her practical experience and scientific knowledge with the next generation of professionals. Adelle is also a member of the Malaysian Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (MSART) and the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE), strengthening her engagement with fellow professionals and researchers across the region. Through these platforms, she continues to exchange knowledge, foster professional collaboration and contribute to the ongoing advancement of reproductive medicine. H Outside her busy professional schedule, Adelle finds joy in gardening and enjoys experimenting with different plants, observing their growth and exploring how different approaches influence their development. Her passion for gardening reflects her naturally curious spirit and love for experimentation and discovery. LS English, Malay, Mandarin and Cantonese J Growing up in a modest Christian family where education was deeply valued, Adelle learned early the importance of discipline, perseverance and compassion. One of three siblings and a twin sister, she was raised with a strong sense of responsibility and determination. Her professional journey began in 2007, the same year her late father was diagnosed with nose cancer. Despite the challenges her family faced, Adelle remained steadfast in pursuing her career and building a future through science. Naturally meticulous and self-described as a perfectionist, Adelle has always been fascinated by experimentation and discovery. Her curiosity eventually led her to embryology, where science and humanity come together in a deeply meaningful way. One memory remains especially close to her heart: seeing a mother who had struggled to conceive finally carry her healthy baby home. That moment brought Adelle immense joy and reminded her that behind every laboratory procedure is a deeply personal dream, a family waiting and a life filled with hope. For Adelle, true success is never achieved alone. She believes it grows from teamwork, mutual support and a shared commitment to making a difference. Her guiding principle, “Walk the talk,” reflects her belief that words must be supported by action.
