Alvin’s career journey in the air conditioning industry began at the early age of 14, when he started working part-time as an air conditioning apprentice while still in school. In 1998 after completing his education, he made a bold move to Singapore, joining Carrier Singapore as an apprentice. Over the course of five years, through dedication and technical excellence, he rose to the position of Senior Technician before leaving the company in 2003. That same year, Alvin embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by founding Coldworld Air-Conditioning Services. Over the years, he launched and managed multiple companies, all within the air conditioning and mechanical ventilation (ACMV) sector. These ventures laid the foundation for what would become his flagship company. In 2017, Coldworld Air-Conditioning Services evolved into Coldworld Engineering Pte Ltd, marking a significant milestone. The rebranding and transformation from a sole proprietorship to a private limited company reflected Alvin’s long-term vision for growth, innovation, and professionalism in the industry. With a renewed focus on providing customised ACMV solutions, Coldworld Engineering quickly became a trusted name for both residential and commercial clients. As an authorised contractor for top-tier brands such as Carrier and Daikin, the company expanded its services beyond traditional installations to offer full-spectrum, integrated air conditioning solutions. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Coldworld Engineering demonstrated industry leadership by pioneering anti-bacterial air conditioning treatment solutions through its authorised dealership with Bactakleen, helping to enhance indoor air quality and public safety. Coldworld Engineering now serves clients across Singapore and southern Malaysia, with notable projects including technical services at Changi Airport, where the company currently operates as an in-house contractor. Looking forward, Alvin remains committed to steering the company’s growth with a strong emphasis on innovation, operational excellence, and talent development. His vision includes building a structured internal hierarchy, from apprentice to senior management, while strengthening brand identity, expanding service offerings, increasing revenue, and fostering a workplace culture that nurtures and empowers employees

From a young age, Alvin was influenced by his father, a construction contractor, who played a significant role in shaping his career path. His father encouraged him to explore the air conditioning industry while he was still studying, offering invaluable guidance and advice. After completing his education, Alvin’s father helped him secure a position at Carrier Singapore, where he gained essential hands-on experience in the HVAC field. With years of learning and growth, Alvin, driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, took the leap to start his own business in his early twenties — a move that brought him a deep sense of fulfillment and purpose. However, the journey was not without its hardships. Over the years, Alvin encountered significant challenges, including turbulent periods where his business faced financial strain and uncertainty. One of the most trying times occurred in 2012, when he was caught in a series of partnership disputes, leaving him burdened with debts and unpaid dues from contractors. The weight of these professional setbacks was compounded by an unimaginable personal tragedy. Alvin and his wife faced the heartbreaking loss of their newborn child, just an hour after birth. In the midst of emotional devastation and with dwindling savings in the bank, Alvin found the strength to navigate the grief while still managing to arrange the funeral. Despite these hardships, Alvin’s resilience and unwavering determination allowed him to push forward, learning from the challenges he faced. These experiences have not only shaped his business acumen but have also reinforced his commitment to creating a positive impact, both professionally and personally
