Mr. Andrijanto’s father is his role model of hard work and integrity. His father was once a successful entrepreneur. But life took a turn. His father’s business had to shut down, and at around 45 years old, he started over from scratch as an employee. That drastic change led the family into a much simpler life. From a life of comfort, they had to adapt to a life of limitations. Those years became Mr. Andrijanto’s school of life. He was raised under pressure and scarcity, but those circumstances shaped his character and resilience. He recalls how, during that time, the family had to share a single egg among the four siblings. The egg would be spread thin just to make it enough for everyone. Despite the hardship, his father kept working hard, lived humbly, and remained unwavering in his honesty. And because of that, all children in the family were able to pursue higher education at public universities. It was a meaningful legacy his father passed down that Mr. Andrijanto continues to uphold to this day

Nicknamed the “Master of the Turnaround,” Mr. Andrijanto is known for transforming underperforming companies with strong business potential. He previously led successful turnarounds at PT Surya Artha Nusantara Finance and MyRepublic before being brought in to improve Smartfren in 2022. At the time, the company was suffering annual losses, had a bloated structure, lacked innovation, and operated with a siloed work culture. Mr. Andrijanto took immediate action by applying his three winning elements: a winning concept, a winning team, and a winning system. He streamlined operations, cut staff by half without disrupting business, and reduced costs. However, financial simulations revealed that even with a lean structure, fixed costs like tower leases and frequency fees were unsustainable. Realizing a merger was the only viable path, he led the strategic union between Smartfren and XL Axiata to improve efficiency and reduce unhealthy competition. The merger enabled tower integration and a stronger distribution network, making services more competitive. After the merger, Mr. Andrijanto was appointed Director of the B2B division, where he now focuses on delivering integrated telco-tech solutions for enterprise clients
Mr. Andrijanto positions CSR as a core business strategy, with a strong emphasis on digital literacy. Under his leadership, the company runs programs that equip communities and small businesses with the digital skills needed to thrive in the online economy. These initiatives have not only built strong community networks but also established Smartfren as a leading force in digital empowerment
Indonesia CEO Excellence 2024 for Maintaining Customer Experience with Digital Customer Orientation through Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Collaboration from Warta Ekonomi; Human Resources Excellence Awards 2024, Most People-Focused CEO Category; Indonesia Most Popular CEO Awards 2025 from The Iconomics 2025
Mr. Andrijanto’s most significant life milestones was achieving financial freedom at the age of 45. For him, financial freedom doesn’t mean immense wealth, but the ability to support his family, including his children’s education, and live comfortably without the need to work actively. This milestone was the result of careful planning. Starting his career after graduating from Universitas Indonesia, he steadily progressed to become the youngest director at Astra. Along the way, he sharpened his financial expertise, investing wisely and seizing opportunities to grow his assets. After reaching financial freedom, Mr. Andrijanto wants to shift his focus from financial goals to social contribution. Ironically, his desire to give back led him back to leadership. After his success at MyRepublic, he was entrusted with leading Smartfren, despite lacking a telecommunications background. To him, serving as CEO is a form of social impact. He deals with people’s challenges daily, operational and personal, and sees the role as deeply human-centered. Through his leadership, he ensures that CSR programs thrive, taxes are paid responsibly, and the company contributes to national development

In his leisure time, Mr. Andrijanto loves traveling with his wife and children. These trips often become opportunities to explore new places and enjoy culinary experiences together. Mr. Andrijanto also loves fishing. He frequently goes on deep-sea fishing trips in the Sunda Strait, targeting large fish using specialized equipment. For him, fishing is not just a form of relaxation but also a physical and mental sport
A major turning point in Mr. Andrijanto’s life came during high school. His father gave him a clear message: if he didn’t get into a public university, the family couldn’t afford to send him elsewhere. With the family business gone and finances tight, education was the only path forward. This pushed him to study hard and secure a place at Universitas Indonesia, a milestone he considers his first major success. After graduating, he went through several job interviews before landing a role at Astra. His career there marked a life transformation, as he was appointed as one of the company’s directors. That promotion became a key milestone, lifting him out of hardship and enabling him to support others
During his time at Smartfren, Mr. Andrijanto composed songs as a tool to shape the company’s work culture. The themes center on motivation, love for the job and company, and the spirit of contributing to the nation. These songs are used internally as part of the company’s cultural development strategy. Mr. Andrijanto writes the lyrics himself and is actively involved in directing the musical arrangement. Through music and his signature mantra, “Ayo pinter bareng, ayo kerja bareng, ayo sukses bareng” (Let’s get smarter together, work together, succeed together), he aims to foster a sense of shared purpose, align the company’s vision, and strengthen a culture of collaboration
Mr. Andrijanto believes that success in life and career relies on three key pillars: relationships, reputation, and contribution. Relationships mean maintaining good connections with everyone. He believes that the urge to always be right often leads to conflict, which can hinder progress. Harmony, therefore, is a crucial foundation in both work and life. Reputation is tested by whether a person can be trusted, to manage business, people, and money. At the core of reputation is integrity and consistency. Contribution is reflected through tangible results, such as cost efficiency, improved performance, or business transformation. While balancing all three is not easy, it requires discipline, hard work, and strong commitment. Yet for Mr. Andrijanto, these three principles remain his guiding compass throughout his life and career
