He personally doesn't hold company ownership; he only buys shares. Ethically, they are not permitted to have outside businesses, as it can lead to a loss of focus. While having an additional business is permissible, it must not interfere with one's work. Otherwise, the focus shifts, and if not taken seriously, it often results in financial loss
Personally, he finds it more fulfilling to specifically respond to the needs of orphans each Eid al-Fitr
He is not currently a member of any unions or organisations. This is largely because his professional responsibilities take up most of his time, leaving the remainder for his family
He considers his current professional standing a significant achievement, especially given his humble origins in a village. He never imagined reaching his present position, a journey he deeply appreciates. His primary focus and greatest hope now lie in his children's future, particularly his daughter, who is currently studying Computer Science in Korea. He aims for them to surpass his own accomplishments, feeling that their path is already "on track." For him, simply navigating life to this point is a profound achievement, and his current efforts are dedicated to preparing his daughter for her future
English, Bahasa Indonesia
His primary hobby revolves around investing, a pursuit he finds enjoyable across various domains, even extending to his pets, which he views as a form of calculated investment. Beyond that, he's currently keen on golf. He's dedicated to improving his game, often referring to YouTube tutorials to refine his technique and address specific challenges like shot distance or accuracy. This practical approach allows him to immediately apply what he learns
His "magic moments" are deeply intertwined with what he perceives as destiny shaping his career path. Despite initially excelling in science, particularly chemistry, he ultimately found himself immersed in finance and accounting. He recalls being accepted into Mechanical Engineering at UGM, but he had already committed to STAN (State College of Accountancy). A significant turning point came when, after a year at STAN, an unforeseen event led him to restart his academic journey from scratch, taking the university entrance exam (UMPTN) again. This time, he enrolled in the accounting programme at UI (University of Indonesia), a stark departure from his initial science background. He believes this pivot, despite his planning, was guided by fate. He reflects that perhaps a "gift" or sheer luck played a role in his journey. Looking back, he identifies an early "magic moment" when he served as treasurer for his high school's youth organisation (Karang Taruna). He found himself effortlessly managing funds, noting that "the money just kept accumulating." This early experience hinted at his natural aptitude for finance. This aptitude became even clearer when he moved to a treasury role at UT (presumably PT. United Tractors Tbk). Unlike previous treasurers who struggled with month-end vendor payments, he found himself managing substantial fund sums — up to six trillion Rupiah (IDR) —leading to the "headache" of managing deposits. Another pivotal experience in his treasury role involved developing a subsidiary focussed on labour supply mechanics. Despite his finance background, he learned extensively about mechanics, transforming an initial investment of IDR 500 million into IDR 20 billion within three years. He considers this a major achievement, showcasing his ability to learn and succeed outside his core expertise
Currently, he's actively preparing for retirement by delving into stock market investing. He describes his investment approach as conservative, aligning with his financial expertise and understanding of risk. He's particularly focussed on identifying strategies that could yield a consistent return, such as 20% annually, recognising this requires significant study. Over the past year or two, he's learned that each stock has its own unique characteristics, or "spirit," requiring careful individual study. This pursuit is not only a part of his retirement planning but also a source of enjoyment and a potential future endeavour
His success is deeply rooted in his "ngulik" philosophy — a meticulous and passionate dive into understanding concepts until he grasps their very essence. This isn't just a professional approach; it's a personal drive that propels him to dissect complex financial models or even technical overhauls, regardless of his background. He champions the relentless pursuit of expertise, but crucially, he pairs it with an unwavering commitment to creativity and innovation. For him, true mastery involves not just understanding, but also the ability to invent new solutions and "stir things up," a mindset he believes is vital for both personal growth and company advancement in any competitive landscape.
