GRA - GREAT ANCESTORS

His grandfather was a textile merchant from China who came to Indonesia in 1920, married, settled in Bogor, and raised eight children. His father, the second child, started as a small trader selling tobacco and daily goods, later expanding into local public transportation. A core value passed down through generations is: “When you are fortunate, stay humble. When facing hardship, stay strong. Always try to be helpful to others—and if you can’t, at least don’t become a burden.” They lived by hard work and prayer—values they taught by example

ACH - ACHIEVEMENTS

While leading the Puskesmas Merbau Mataram, he managed to improve the performance of maternal and child health, child nutrition, prevention and control of communicable diseases, basic immunisation, and health promotion. These efforts earned him the Dokter Teladan award and helped the Puskesmas Merbau Mataram receive the Puskesmas Teladan award as well. When he led the Puskesmas Way Muli, he supported a public-private partnership with the Koalisi Indonesia Sehat (KIS) to address public health issues. Meanwhile, during his leadership at the Puskesmas Penengahan, he pioneered a pilot project for community-funded school health financing with support from the South Lampung District Health Office. In his role as Health Team Leader at Wahana Visi Indonesia, he worked with colleagues to contextualise various community-based health programmes across Indonesia. These included Community-Based Integrated Management of Childhood Illness – Ministry of Health, Infant and Young Child Feeding – Ministry of Health, Community-Based Total Sanitation – Ministry of Health, and Channels of Hope for HIV & AIDS – World Vision. The programmes were implemented across provinces, including Aceh, North Sumatera, Jakarta, East Java, West Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, and Papua. The contextualisation made the programme easier to understand and followed by the community. These include facilitating the local community in Papua to stop opened defecation using local wisdom of making cement with firewood ash. As Advocacy Director, he worked with colleagues within and across organisations to promote and advocate for the gold standard of infant and young child feeding through the GKIA. He also co-initiated the formation of the Aliansi PKTA to advocate for strengthening the national strategy on ending violence against children. Furthermore, with colleagues within the organisation, he promoted social accountability in development planning using World Vision’s model of Citizen Voice and Action in the Open Government Indonesia. He represented this work at Open Government Partnership Summits in Georgia (2018) and Canada (2019), as well as at the Civil Society Forum in the IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting in Bali (2018). In addition, he was honoured to represent the organisation to speak at the Multi Stakeholder Platform to End Violence Against Children in Shinjuku, Japan (2019). In his role as Strategy Management Director, he led colleagues across departments in formulating the Country Strategy 2021–2025, created a Business Continuity Plan during the COVID-19 pandemic, simplified business processes and bureaucracy, and spearheaded the formulation of the Country Strategy for 2026–2030
