Deirdre’s design journey began in 1992 in London, where she joined RHWL Architects as a junior designer. In 1993, she returned to Cape Town, working with Design House for five years, where she rose from designer to associate, honing her craft and expanding her expertise. In 1999, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Deirdre founded her own boutique interior design studio, Deirdre Rennier Interior Design, in Cape Town, focusing on bespoke, high-end projects. Seeking broader horizons, she moved to Singapore in 2000 to join the acclaimed Kerry Hill Architects as a senior designer. Over two pivotal years there, she deepened her appreciation for tropical architecture and refined resort design — experiences that would go on to shape her distinctive design philosophy. In 2002, Deirdre established Deirdre Rennier Interior Design in Singapore, which evolved into Deirdre Renniers Design Pte Ltd in 2013, reflecting the firm’s expanded international reach and reputation. Today, Deirdre is recognized as a leading Singapore- and Cape Town-based interior designer known for crafting spaces that go beyond the expected. Her passion lies in creating immersive environments — from luxury airport lounges and private yachts to remote tea plantations — each project a meticulously curated experience blending elegance, functionality, and rich narrative. Specializing in experiential interior design, Deirdre seamlessly weaves cultural authenticity with contemporary sophistication, breathing life into bespoke resort, hospitality, and travel-oriented spaces. Leading a globally diverse, multidisciplinary team, she integrates expertise across architecture, interiors, furniture, product design, and branding, ensuring every project is approached holistically and tailored to its unique story. With an exacting eye for detail, broad international experience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Deirdre transforms client visions into spaces that are not only highly functional but also deeply inspiring — delivering extraordinary, meaningful experiences that resonate long after the first impression
Throughout her career, Deirdre has delivered an impressive portfolio of acclaimed projects worldwide. Among her most celebrated works are two award-winning projects: the Celestia Phinisi (completed in 2023), a luxury handcrafted yacht renowned for its meticulous design and cultural authenticity, and the Ceylon Tea Trails (completed in 2005), an iconic heritage resort in Sri Lanka that set new standards in luxury hospitality and experiential travel. Both projects have received multiple international awards, recognizing Deirdre’s exceptional ability to blend elegance, functionality, and storytelling into unforgettable spaces
