Harry

His passion for academic pursuits is deeply rooted in a family legacy of excellence and resilience. The grandfather, an English professor, inspired a love for international exploration through his experiences in Australia. His father, a respected local government official in Sumatera Utara and a leader in the Melayu community, embodied the power of kindness. His aunt, a dedicated doctor, offered unwavering moral and spiritual support to her extended family after her husband's passing. A distant uncle, an ITB graduate in Petroleum Engineering, stood as a testament to academic and spiritual dedication. Together, these ancestors have created a lasting legacy of integrity and perseverance in education.

Graduated from SMU Negeri 11 Medan in 2003, then continued to the prestigious Institut Teknologi Bandung, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering between 2003 and 2008. His quest for deeper understanding led him to the University of Indonesia, where he completed a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering, specializing in Gas Technology and Management, from 2009 to 2011. Not content with just engineering expertise, he expanded his academic horizons by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Economic Science at the University of Indonesia, graduating with honors (Cum Laude) in 2015. This was followed by a PhD in Strategic Management at the same institution from 2017 to 2020, further solidifying his strategic acumen. His journey continued overseas at Newcastle University, where he achieved a Master’s degree in Data Science with distinction (Cum Laude) in 2022. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Scenario Planning and Foresight at Strathclyde Business School, while simultaneously undertaking a Master’s degree in Business Analytics at Imperial College London. This impressive academic trajectory reflects his commitment to lifelong learning.

Began his career as a Process Engineer at PT RPE Engineering (2008–2010), then worked as a Process Design Engineer at Tetra Pak (2010–2011) and as a Process Engineer at PT Singgar Mulia (2011). He moved into Senior Business Development at PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (2011–2012), then worked as a Gas, LNG & LPG Senior Analyst at SKK Migas (2012–2015) and as Senior Business Development Manager at PT Elektrindo Perkasa Utama (2015–2018). He later led corporate planning at Elnusa Petrofin (2018–2020) and worked as a Senior Data Consultant (contract) at PT Indeks Komoditas Indonesia (2020–2023). Alongside his main roles, he has also taught part-time as a Business Strategy Lecturer at Institut Teknologi Bandung (2020–present), Data Science & Business Analytics Lecturer at the University of Indonesia (2020–present), Machine Learning & Big Data Analytics Lecturer at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya (2021–2023), Subject Matter Expert in Data Science at Startup Campus (2022–2024), and Faculty Member at Binus Business School (2022–present). Currently, he is Chief Data & AI Lead at Patria & Co. (2021–present), a PhD Researcher at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Strategy, and Innovation at Strathclyde Business School (2022–present), and continues to teach at leading Indonesian universities.

He has authored numerous scholarly articles exploring the intersections of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Business Strategy, Economic trends, and Data Science methodologies; among many, including "Oil Exploration Economics: Empirical Evidence from Indonesian Geological Basins" 2015, "Intellectual Structure and Scientific Evolution of Strategic Decision in the Field of Business and Management (1971 to 2018)" 2019, "Are Electronic Vehicle Stocks in ASEAN-5 Countries Investable during the Covid-19 Pandemic?" 2021, "Team Diversity in Scenario Planning: Theoretical Insights and Implications for Team Composition" 2025.

Through Infiniti LMS Patria & Co., he led the largest pro bono Scenario Planning Workshop in Indonesia, which attracted up to 300 participants; Also shares a range of free resources, including programming language guides, data science notebooks, and machine learning projects, all designed to support self-learners and tech enthusiasts on his Github page.

Exploring current tech trends, writing, traveling, and enjoying music.

Amidst the global pandemic and economic turmoil, his decision to move to the UK marked a significant turning point. It was his first venture outside Asia and into a new field of study at the age of 35. Despite the challenges, including quarantine, his pursuit of a master’s in STEM and coding led to unexpected success, culminating in a cum laude honor. Thankfully, the experience exceeded all expectations, demonstrating that with determination and faith, remarkable achievements are possible.

Looking to advance his career as an executive in the data and AI sector, he aims to expand his business internationally within the next five years.

He saw determination—which helped enhance his intellect and personal growth—and leadership, often exercised without people noticing his influence, as the foundations of his success.
