His undergraduate years built a strong foundation in legal theory and civil law practice, shaping his early perspective as an aspiring advocate. After nearly two decades of professional experience, he decided to deepen his legal knowledge through further education. In 2004, he entered the Master of Law program at Universitas Padjadjaran. His postgraduate studies focused on legal policy and professional ethics, subjects that later influenced his leadership in advocate organizations. One year later, in 2005, he continued to the Doctoral Program in Law at the same university. His doctoral research explored the dynamics of legal institutions in Indonesia, emphasizing the need for integrity and accountability among law enforcers. This academic pursuit reflected his lifelong commitment to building a more ethical and professional legal community.
Juniver Girsang started his legal career in 1987 as a legal consultant at the law office of O.C. Kaligis & Associates. His years there provided practical exposure to courtroom advocacy and legal strategy, which later shaped his professional discipline. In 1990, he advanced to become a partner lawyer at YPJH & J Law Firm. This period marked a transition from practitioner to decision-maker. As a partner, he managed client relations, supervised junior lawyers, and contributed to the firm’s strategic cases in business and commercial law. His leadership and professional consistency built his reputation among corporate clients and legal peers. In 2000, he established his own law firm, **Juniver Girsang & Partners**, which he continues to lead today. The firm grew into one of Indonesia’s recognized legal practices, handling national-level cases and offering services in litigation, corporate affairs, and legal consultancy. Under his direction, the firm became known for its disciplined work ethic and strong advocacy for clients’ rights. As Chairman of the National Leadership Council of the Indonesian Advocates Association – Suara Advokat Indonesia (PERADI SAI), Juniver Girsang has played a central role in shaping the direction of the Indonesian legal profession. Since assuming the position in 2015, he has led the organization through a decade of structural expansion and professional reform. Under his leadership, PERADI SAI grew from around 3,400 registered members at its founding to more than 14,000 members nationwide. He strengthened advocate certification, introduced transparent professional standards, and expanded regional branches to ensure equal representation for lawyers across Indonesia. His focus on integrity and competence established PERADI SAI as a credible institution within Indonesia’s multi-bar system. Juniver also became an active voice in legislative discussions. He represented the organization in parliamentary hearings to advocate for revisions to the Law on Advocates (UU Advokat) and the Criminal Procedure Code (RUU KUHAP). His proposals centered on protecting advocates’ independence and ensuring that lawyers can defend clients without intimidation or criminalization. Within PERADI SAI, he emphasized continuing legal education, ethical accountability, and institutional collaboration with universities and government bodies. His leadership combined administrative discipline with a reform-driven approach, turning PERADI SAI into both a professional body and a platform for legal modernization in Indonesia.
