Amongst the many awards she has received, Kirana regards her greatest achievements as deeply tied to the journey of building UMBRA. Founding the firm was a turning point, stepping out of her comfort zone to establish a local law firm with international standards of quality, yet more cost-efficient. With over a decade of experience in international cases, she was determined to compete globally while proudly representing Indonesia. Her leadership was tested during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she boldly invested in IT infrastructure during the first year of remote work. This strategic move enabled UMBRA to successfully handle one of the largest and most complex financial transactions in the market, an international deal that had been stalled for two years, which her team resolved within just six months in collaboration with external partners. Kirana also counts her recognition as an IFLR1000 Women Leader in 2025 among her proudest milestones, as it represents not only professional excellence but also her aspiration to inspire others and continue growing as a leader.

During her university years, Kirana often organized fundraising events that took her to the bustling business district of Sudirman, Jakarta. Walking among the towering skyscrapers, she dreamed of one day working inside those very buildings. That dream became reality when she landed her first internship at Baker McKenzie, a true magic moment for her. From the high floors of the office, she could see the colorful lights of Jakarta, a view that filled her with inspiration. From that point on, she continued building her dreams, driven by the belief that one day, she could make her mark on the world.
She has a deep affection for cats and currently cares for several, including rescued street cats. In her free time, she enjoys nurturing and playing with them, finding joy and comfort in their company.
Kirana Sastrawijaya’s drive for success is rooted in her early life experiences. Growing up in a struggling family, she was often underestimated. Instead of allowing these circumstances to define her, she turned them into motivation, pursuing success to not only prove herself but also uplift her family. Beyond material achievements, Kirana seeks fulfillment through her passion for advocacy, where she leverages creativity and problem-solving to transform challenges into meaningful opportunities for herself and others.
