In this book, Otto examines how copyright protection applies to songwriters, performers, and music producers. He explores the legal and institutional framework that governs collecting societies and the enforcement of intellectual property rights in Indonesia. His analysis combines doctrinal research with real cases from Indonesian courts, illustrating the practical challenges faced by artists and producers in protecting their creative work. The book also highlights the importance of aligning Indonesia’s copyright regulations with international standards such as the Berne Convention and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) agreements. Otto emphasizes that protecting intellectual property is not only a legal issue but also an economic necessity for creative industries.
